Configure Onevium and understand its data

Purpose#

Use Settings to adjust the interface, model connections, permissions, browser, and data options.

Before you start#

Open Settings from the sidebar and note the current value before changing it. Practice with language or theme, not data deletion. Conversation data primarily lives in ~/.onevium/; Skills, Agents, and MCP can also use user or project configuration directories.

First task#

  1. Change language or theme in General and check the visible result.
  2. Use Providers for model connections. Keyboard shortcuts, network proxy, browser, and voice have their own sections.
  3. Default permissions are in General, memory controls in Personalization, and data information and deletion in Privacy.
  4. Save one change and test it in a project before changing another setting.

Confirm success#

Reopening Settings shows the saved value and the related operation works as expected. Model requests still go to the configured provider; remote pages and MCP may also use the network. Local storage does not mean all processing is offline.

Common problems#

  • Change has no effect: check saving and conversation-level overrides.
  • Connection failure: check provider configuration, credentials, and proxy separately.
  • Missing old conversation: check archived sessions before clearing local data.
